What Josh Hamilton did last night at the home run derby was incredible.
28 home runs in the first round! a new record breaking bobby abreu's
previous mark of 24 home runs in a single round. the next best person
only got 8 home runs in the first round. the only problem is he didn't
win.

thats right Justin Morneau won the home run derby even
though he hit 13 home runs less in total. the only reason he won is
because the MLB has the perfect rules set up for the home run derby.
they have it so that if you hit a whole lot of home runs in the first
round you pretty much get an automatic bid to the championship round
unless 2 people pretty much do the same as you in the second round.
however when you get into the final round the slate is wiped clean and
you and your opponent have just as good a chance of winning.

people
are saying the rules need to be changed because Josh hit so many
homeruns and still lost. well if the rules were changed to make it so
that all of your homeruns carry over people could win in the first
round which would make the last couple rounds less apealing. no the
rules are good like they are because it makes it so someone can win
even if they dont hit the most homeruns.

i would have loved to
see Josh Hamilton win but he started to put on a show in the first
round and payed for it by not taking home the first place trophy. i
just hope that this doesnt do to his swing what it did to Bobby Abreu
's swing after he hit 41 total homeruns in 05 and hasnt been the same
since.
